Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are already into April. We are well on our way into term three and I encourage students to continue working towards their goals that they set for term three on their report cards.
The grade three students will be bringing home an EQAO Practice Booklet. This is a duotang of at home practice work to help your child prepare for the upcoming grade 3 EQAO testing which will occur sometime at the end of May or beginning of June. Firm dates will follow when they are established. This book will be sent home on April 1st. This work will reinforce and help familiarize children with the terminology and questioning styles that will appear on the test. The activities are for you to complete, at your convenience, with your child over the next 7 weeks. Students have essentially been preparing for this test since their entry to school. We will be preparing in class for this test as well however, this is some extra practice for them to do at home to help them in their success on EQAO.
This book is due back to me on May 20th. All grade three students who complete this booklet will receive a free book from Mrs. Holmes when they return their completed booklet.
On April 9th we will be heading to the Imperial Theatre in Petrolia to see Alice In Oil Town in which one of our own students, Tim Mayhead, will be performing.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to call.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Holmes
Dear Parents:
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Melissa Holmes and I returned to work on Monday, February 4th from a maternity leave. I am thrilled to be back to work and am looking forward to learning with your child for the remainder of this school year.
You can expect to receive a calendar each month with important dates marked. Please check your child’s planner daily as all homework is not listed on this calendar but will be marked daily in their planner as needed.
I have an open door policy which simply means feel free to call or stop by anytime if you have any questions or concerns.
This month we will be starting a unit on rocks in science. In math we will be looking at 2-D Geometry.
Monday is book exchange at the library; please return books to exchange.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday is physical education; please have appropriate footwear at school.
February 14th is Valentine’s Day. Students may bring valentine cards to exchange and may bring treats to share if you choose. We will have a friendship celebration during the last part of the day at which time we will celebrate friendships, share cards and snacks! I have attached a class list for students to use when writing out cards.
Stop by to say hello if you are in the school or if you have any questions or concerns.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. M. Holmes
