The Township of Moore employs a crossing guard to
assist the pupils to cross Brigden Road at the corner by the funeral home. The crossing guard is on duty at least
twenty minutes before the morning entrance bell, over the noon hour period and
twenty minutes after the dismissal bell.
Daily lunch supervision will be provided for the
students who eat their lunch at school.
In September, you will be asked to complete the “Lunch Room Form”
stating whether your child will be remaining at school or walking home for
lunch. If your child normally walks
home at noon but needs to remain at school for lunch one day, a note is
required. Similarly, a note is needed
each day a “bus” student leaves the school grounds for lunch. No food or drinks purchased uptown are to be
brought back onto our school grounds during lunch.
Milk and juice are available to be purchased each
day at school. The Parent Association
also sponsors special food days on a regular basis.
Field trips are at the discretion of the individual
teacher and principal. Students’
participation is determined by behaviour, attitude, effort and general
cooperation throughout the year.
You will be notified in advance of field trips or
excursions and will be provided information about the purpose of the field
trip, times of departure and arrival, transportation, supervision arrangements,
etc.
All students in the Junior and Intermediate grades
have the opportunity to participate on House League sports teams. Intermediate students may also try out for
All Star teams. House League teams will
play soccer, basketball, volleyball, newcombe, and two-pitch. These activities take place during the noon
hour.
All-Star teams representing schools in our area
compete in cross-country, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track and
field. During soccer and volleyball
games, team members are required to wear shin/knee pads. Participation in external tournaments,
involvement in other leagues and exhibition games remains at the principal’s
discretion. Teachers on a volunteer
basis coach teams.
When choosing a team, the coach will give consideration to the student’s individual skill level in that sport, dedication, and ability to maintain academic performance. An All-Star athlete may be expected to devote out-of-school time to practice and to represent our school to the best of his or her ability. Playing time will vary between individuals.
