OFFICE HOURS

The school’s secretary is in the office from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

SCHOOL BUILDING

The school building is open from 8:50 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.  These hours are extended for extra-curricular activities or detentions.  Pupils are not allowed to leave school property during school hours without written parental permission and office permission.

CONTACTING THE SCHOOL

The school phone number is 864-1125.  The secretary is available during office hours to take your call.  She will connect you with the appropriate teacher, or if the teacher is not available, will take your name and telephone number and the teacher will contact you as soon as possible.  If an immediate response is necessary, inform the secretary of the urgent nature of your call.  An answering machine can also record your call anytime at 864-1125.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

When your child is absent or late, please call the school before classes start.  This helps alleviate our concern for your youngster’s safety on the way to and from the school.  On your child’s return to school, please send an explanatory note to the teacher.  Parents will be contacted both in the morning and the afternoon if their child is not at school.

If you are picking your child up at school for an appointment or if there is a change in dismissal routine, please send a note to your child’s teacher.  Please come to the office when you pick up your child and we will notify your child’s teacher.  This ensures that we are aware of your child’s whereabouts at all times.

It is very important that students keep up with class lessons and assignments. Frequent absence can have adverse effects on student progress, and may result in the development of ineffective work habits, limited progress and feelings of discouragement.  We want students to be successful in their schoolwork.

VISITING THE SCHOOL

When you are visiting the school at times other than open invitations, please report to the office so that you may be properly received.  Because you may not be familiar to all staff, it is especially important that you do not enter the schoolyard during recess.  As the welfare of the students is a constant priority, we are wary of unauthorized persons in our building or grounds.  As an additional safety measure, all entrance doors except those in the front foyer are kept locked during school hours. All visitors to the school are requested to sign the Visitors’ Log Book  located by the front office.
