The transportation officer for The Lambton Kent District School Board, will make the final decision on bus delays and as to whether buses will operate or not in the morning. The Chatham and Sarnia radio stations will announce which school zones are affected by cancelled buses. You may also access this information on the L.K.D.S.B. Transportation website of www.schoolbusinfo.com. Brigden Public School is located within Zone 3. Please contact the L.K.D.S.B. Transportation Office at 1-877-330-4287 or Laidlaw Transit Ltd. at 336-0077 if you have any questions or concerns. Even though bus routes are cancelled, the Board’s school facilities will remain open unless otherwise indicated. Bussed students who receive a ride to school must also be picked up at the end of classes on a day busses have been cancelled.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to send pupils home
early due to road conditions. As soon
as this decision is made, the transportation officer will contact the radio
stations to inform parents of early dismissal.
It is important that any time you are going to be away during the winter
season, you make arrangements so that your children have a place to go in the
event of an early dismissal.
We will implement an emergency call out system as
necessary. These forms will be updated
in the Fall of each school year.
Newsletters are sent home at the beginning of each
month. A calendar and schedule of
upcoming events are included. Please
ask your youngest child to be sure to deliver your copy. The newsletter may also be accessed on our
Internet site: http://brigden.lkdsb.net
Changes to telephone number, marital status,
occupation, emergency contact person, doctor, etc. should be reported to the
school secretary so that our records are accurate and up-to-date. Parents may examine their child’s records by
making an appointment with the Principal.
Students wishing to ride bicycles to school must wear
helmets and place their bikes in the appropriate bicycle racks. The bicycle racks are out-of-bounds during
the recess breaks.
Students’ roller blading should wear protective gear
and remove their skate boots at the bicycle racks. No roller blades are to be worn beyond this point at school. Similarly, skateboards and scooters must be
picked up and carried on school property.
Personally owned property is not covered under the
Board’s liability insurance policy. Thus, the Board will not accept
responsibility for loss or damage to personal property left in the school
building, or used by students at recess.
Students are responsible for their own personal belongings if they are
brought to school. We recommend
personal items not be brought to school.
Students must label their own personal property.
Clothes items are placed in the school’s “Lost and Found” box outside the office. You are welcome at any time to look through these boxes. Each month we donate any unclaimed items to a service organization. Please see the monthly school newsletter for the time these items are bagged to be dropped off.
